Privacy Policy for My Cat Panion

Effective date: June 1, 2026 Last updated: June 1, 2026

My Cat Panion ("the app," "we," "us," or "our") is published by Zaceos, a sole proprietorship owned by Zac Reichert, based in Washington State, USA. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at zac.r22@gmail.com. A dedicated support address (support@) is planned; until it is live, use the email above.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses My Cat Panion on iOS or Android. The app is intended for cat owners who are adults. It is not directed to children. See "Children's privacy" below.

What we collect and why

We collect only what we need to run the app, sync your data across your devices, provide our features, and manage your subscription. We do not sell your personal information, we do not show third-party advertising, and we do not use advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.

Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are stored in hashed form; we never see your plain-text password. You may optionally add a display name. We use this information to create and secure your account, to let you sign in across multiple devices, and to contact you about your account or important service changes.

Cat profiles and care records. The core of the app is a Wellbeing section where you record information about your cat. Depending on what you choose to enter, this can include your cat's name, breed, and age, along with records you create such as weights, medications, vitals, nutrition, grooming, vet visits, home exams, vaccinations, moods, a behavior log, vet notes, memories, training notes, insurance details, microchip information, and evening routine. You decide what to enter. We store this so it is available to you across your devices and over time. This information is for your own record-keeping. It is not a medical record and the app is not a medical device. See our Disclaimer for more.

Usage and progress. We record your progress through educational lessons and courses, your daily trivia activity, and your daily goals, so the app can show your history and continue where you left off.

Subscription status. We store whether your subscription is active, in a trial, or expired, so we can unlock paid features. We do not collect or store your credit card number or other payment card details. Payments are processed by Apple or Google, as described below.

What we do not collect. We do not collect your precise location. We do not access your contacts. In the current version, the app stores text records only; it does not access your photo library. (Image attachment features are planned for a future version. If we add them, we will update this policy before they launch.)

How AI features work

Some features use artificial intelligence to help explain your cat's behavior, body language, and vocalizations, and to offer general guidance. When you use these features, the text you submit for that feature is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing, and the response is returned to the app.

We use Google's paid Gemini API tier. Under Google's API terms for that tier, Google does not use the prompts you submit or the responses generated to train or improve its models, and it retains that content only briefly for safety and legal-compliance purposes. We send only the text needed for the feature you requested. Do not enter information you would not want processed by a third-party service. AI output can be wrong; treat it as general information, not professional advice.

How your data is stored and secured

Your account and app data are stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase, with data located in the United States. We rely on Row Level Security, which isolates your records so that your data is accessible only to your authenticated account. Data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard transport encryption (TLS). We use the security controls provided by our hosting and authentication infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We work to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Third parties we share data with (service providers)

We share limited data with the service providers that make the app work. These providers process data on our behalf, for the purposes described, and are not permitted to use it for their own unrelated purposes.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and the data you enter for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated data as described below. We may retain limited records where we are legally required to do so (for example, transaction records needed for tax or accounting), and our service providers may keep brief technical or safety logs as part of their normal operations.

Account and data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app: go to Settings, then Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your cat profiles, care records, progress, and account information are removed from our active systems.

If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion by emailing zac.r22@gmail.com from the email address tied to your account. Deleting the app from your device alone does not delete your account or cloud data; use the in-app option or email request. Canceling a subscription is handled through Apple or Google and is separate from deleting your account.

Your privacy rights

California (CCPA/CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, the right to access a copy of your personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to delete your personal information, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no need for a "Do Not Sell or Share" opt-out, but you may still contact us with any request. To exercise these rights, use the in-app deletion option or email zac.r22@gmail.com.

EU, EEA, and UK (GDPR/UK GDPR). If you are in these regions, you have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to request its deletion, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the app and your account), your consent (for optional features), and our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), and compliance with legal obligations where applicable. To exercise these rights, use the in-app deletion option or email zac.r22@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We aim to respond to verifiable rights requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity, typically by confirming control of the account email, before acting on a request.

Children's privacy

My Cat Panion is intended for adults who own or care for cats. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The minimum age to create an account is 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact zac.r22@gmail.com and we will delete it.

International users

We are based in the United States and our data is stored in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
